The Writing Sessions
The writing: The writing sessions are collaborative, dynamic and designed to promote creative flow. Each session is unique and unrepeated, and they work both as stand-alone experiences and also cumulatively. Although each day is unique, we aim to spend between 2-3 hours writing together in the morning. The exercises provide writers with an architecture around which to initiate or develop story ideas. All the sessions are optional so you can write as much or as little as you wish.
Trust the words: The emphasis in these sessions is on process and not on product, and the process is a process of allowing. Each writer is encouraged to explore their writing in new ways. The world is absolutely full of story, waiting to be told. The exercises enable writers to trust the words to tell the stories. Each day is a day of surprising discoveries, illuminations and new confidence in the pleasure to be had from playing with a scant handful of words and seeing what emerges.
What sort of writer? The sessions work equally well for writers who are new to the process as writers who are engaged in an on-going project for which they need inspiration or just the space and time to develop their work. Writers of children's novels, memoirs, historical novels, plays and literary fiction have all benefited from working together, sparking ideas from each other and helping each other to feel confident about the directions their creative journeys take them.
One-to-one Supervision: For those writers who would like to take advantage of it, one-to-one supervision can be arranged to help with problem-solving or critiquing a piece of work.
